A West Tyrone MLA is urging opponents to the upgrade of the A5 to rethink their stance after receiving statistics from the PSNI which he says are a stark indication of the importance of a dual carriageway.
After attending the recent mid Inquiry on the A5, Declan McAleer tabled a Freedom of Information request to the PSNI asking for the number of people killed in road traffic collisions on the A5, compared to the A4 dual carriageway from Ballygawley to Dungannon.
Declan McAleer says the difference in death rates between the A4 dual carriageway and the A5 road is compelling evidence that dual carriageways are safer……………
