Ireland’s electricity supply expected to come under threat

Ireland’s electricity supply is likely to be under threat again in the coming days, as demand increases during the cold snap.

According to the Irish Times, Eirgrid was close to issuing an amber alert yesterday.

That was until extra supply came through from Ireland’s interconnector with the UK.

Sub-zero temperatures are expected to put pressure on the system again, and an alert may become ‘unavoidable’.
