Ancient fossils found on Donegal beach

Two Irish boys have discovered fossils older than the dinosaurs on a beach in Donegal this weekend.

Liam and Joseph McGonale were walking on Cruit Island beach with their parents when they found the remains – which they first thought were “bird droppings”.

Turns out the fossils are of a sea coal that’s over 300 million years old!

That’s 100 million years before dinosaurs roamed the earth.
