Irish hospitals face immense overcrowding following bank holiday weekend

The INMO is calling for elective hospital procedures to be cancelled, as the number of people waiting on trolleys exceeds 630 today.

The nursing union says it’s clear that the public hospital system cannot provide both safe emergency and elective care with such levels of overcrowding.

There are 26 patients waiting for a bed at Letterkenny University Hospital today. 9 of which are in the emergency department and 17 in wards elsewhere.
