Jason Symth hangs up the spikes

Jason Smyth has announced his retirement from athletics at the age of 35.

The Derry native retires having never lost a competitive Para Athletics event throughout his entire career.

Smyth was a six-time gold medallist at the Paralympics in the 100- and 200-metre events.

He also won eight world titles, as well as six golds at the European Championships.
