Rape suspect faces extradition to Republic after arrest at Belfast Airport

A man arrested while trying to flee the country on a flight out of Belfast International Airport remains in police custody.

The PSNI say the 31 year old – who is wanted by Gardaí on suspicion of rape – was apprehended yesterday.

He will appear at the next available Extradition Court in Belfast.

His arrest was part of a joint operation by the PSNI, Gardaí, International Law Enforcement partners and Airport Police.
