A specialist drug dog unit is to be established in Donegal.
Superintendent Aidan Glackin has confirmed that it will be in place in the coming months along with a dog handler.
Councillor Michael McClafferty, Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal District has been calling for such a service to be rolled out in the county for a number of years as a deterrent to drugs coming into and circulating in Donegal.
