Brendan Howlin will not contest next general election

Brendan Howlin has announced he’ll not contest the next general election.

The former Labour leader has been an elected member of the Dáil since 1987.

He served as a Minister in three Governments, and is a TD for the Wexford constituency.

The 67-year-old says the time has come for him to bring an end to his political career:
