2023 has been confirmed by Met Eireann to be the warmest year on record in Ireland.
The body’s climate statement says temperatures were more than 1.6 degrees warmer than the long term average.
Record sea temperatures contributed to the record, while it also says current climate change projections indicate further warming in the future.
