Prescribers granted permission to write 12 month prescriptions

Prescribers can now write prescriptions for patients that are valid for up to 12 months.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has announced from today, the maximum legal validity of them has been extended.

Patients can ask their pharmacists to extend prescriptions from 6 months to a maximum of 12 months from September.

That’s if they have a prescription dated March 1st, this year or later.
