Family referendum: Donegal votes ‘No’

The family referendum has been defeated in Donegal.

19.8% of people in the county voted ‘yes’ with a resounding 80.2% voting against the proposed changes.

A total of 48,850 votes were cast in Donegal representing a voter turnout of 40%.

The Government admitted defeat earlier today with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar saying they ‘clearly got it wrong’.
