The Higher Education Minister Simon Harris is expected to be announced as the new leader of Fine Gael within the next hour
Nominations to replace Leo Varadkar closed earlier this afternoon, with Minister Harris believed to be the only candidate.
If that is the case, he’ll become the 12th leader of Fine Gael, as well as the youngest, and is set to be elected Taoiseach on April 9th.
