Private group water scheme on Tory Island fails to meet E. coli standards

Unregistered drinking water supplies are not being monitored by councils, creating a potential public health risk for consumers.

There are 37 small private supplies registered in Donegal.

The number of drinking water private group schemes with E. coli failures went up in 2023.

Today’s EPA report shows 22 of these schemes, one being on Tory Island, failed the standard for E. coli, putting the health of around 4,600 consumers at risk.
