The Donegal man who was found dead in a cell in Portugal has been named locally as Ryan Chan.
The 29 year old from Letterkenny was arrested and taken into police custody in Albufeira on Tuesday night.
Portuguese police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the incident and is providing consular assistance.
