Gardaí in Mallow in Cork have commenced a murder investigation after the discovery of a woman’s body last Friday.
The investigation was upgraded to murder following a post-mortem examination carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist on Paula Canty.
The 31 year old mother-of-two was found dead at a residential property on Bridewell Lane.
It’s understood she suffered stab wounds.
The Garda Technical Bureau is currently at the scene where they are carrying out a forensic examination.
A senior investigating officer is leading the investigation from the incident room at Mallow Garda Station, and a family liaison officer is supporting Paula’s family.
Gardaí are also appealing for witnesses and are seeking camera footage from those who were near Bridewell Lane between 9pm on Thursday and 10am on Friday.
