Death penalty sought for suspect in killing of Letterkenny Optum boss


The US attorney general has ordered prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Luigi Mangione.

The 26-year-old is accused of shooting CEO of Letterkenny-based company, Optum boss Brian Thompson outside a hotel in New York in December.

In a statement, Attorney General Pam Bondi called the attack a “premeditated, cold-blooded assassination”.

Mangione has pleaded not guilty.
