Letterkenny University Hospital was the second most overcrowded hospital in the country this morning.
Forty patients were awaiting admission to a hospital bed.
Thirteen of these patients were on trolleys in the Emergency Department, while the remaining 27 were located on wards elsewhere in the hospital.
A statement released yesterday highlighted the significant pressure on the Emergency Department due to a high volume of attendances.
