NI First Minister calls for public inquiry into 1997 murder of GAA official Sean Brown

The North’s First Minister Michelle O’Neill, has written to the British Prime Minister urging the UK Government to grant a public inquiry into the murder of GAA official Sean Brown.

The chairman of Bellaghy Wolfe Tones was abducted and murdered by loyalist paramilitaries in 1997 in Derry.

Intelligence material has linked State agents to his death.

Last week, Belfast’s Court of Appeal ruled the Government’s failure to hold an inquiry is unlawful, and cannot stand.
