County councilors should be free to back independent presidential candidates – Cllr Scanlon

A local councilor says the process through which potential independent presidential candidates go through to get their name on the ballot is unfair.

The prospective candidates must garner the support of four local authorities based on a majority vote, which is difficult to achieve when parties have their own candidates in the race.
