The Dail has been told that the Defective Concrete Scandal is a national emergency which the Government has willfully mismanaged for over a decade.
Donegal Deputy Charles Ward told the Dail 40% of impacted homeowners are living with severe depression, while the Government continues to claim people are being looked after.
The truth, he said, is that we are now on a second failed scheme.
Deputy Ward said the situation is being worsened for some by the downgrading of their engineer’s recommendations to demolish by others employed by the Housing Agency, at a time when what he believes to be the outdated IS465 standard is set to be reviewed.
He said this is unethical.
Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan responded that if unethical practices are being pursued, that should be reported..……..
