
A Midlands North West MEP has called for the Hague Preferences to be invoked in the European Parliament last night.
It’s off the back of proposed major quota cuts to mackerel and blue whiting, despite Irish fishing vessels fishing responsibly to protect stock levels.
The Hague Preference would see compensation for Ireland in the face of this adversity due to it’s dependency on the fishing industry.
