Members of the Irish Defence Forces have come under fire in south Lebanon.
The 127th Infantry Battalion came under “small arms fire” at 6.30pm yesterday evening, but “all personnel are well and accounted for”
The Defence Forces says the Battalion were out on patrol in armoured vehicles when the attack happened, and “initiated immediate action drills”.
This is one of the last tours of duty Irish soldiers will perform as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon as the mission will soon be stood down.
