The number of new cars being licensed is on the decline.
Between April 2026 and the same month last year, there was an 8 per cent drop from just over 13 thousand to just shy of 12 thousand.
That was reflected in Donegal, with 229 new cars registered last month, compared to 280 in April 2025, a fall of 18%.
Conversely there was a year on year increase in the number of used cars being registered in the county for the first time, with 398 registered in Donegal, a rise of 31%.
