Deputy Doherty welcomes Government decision to reopen applications for July Provision for children with disabilities

Deputy Pearse Doherty has welcomed the government’s climbdown after it conceded to Sinn Féin’s demand for the applications for July Provision for children with additional needs to be reopened.

The issue was raised with Tánaiste Simon Harris yesterday, where Deputy Doherty said it was “appalling” that the applications window for July Provision was this year reduced to only one week, when in previous years it was open for months.

In response, Tanaiste Harris confirmed the portal will reopen, as he highlighted the importance of the programme.

This was welcomed by Deputy Doherty, who also called for greater options for children to avail of the service:
