The number of new homes commenced in May was over double the amount for the same period last year.
New figures released by the Department of Housing show a significant increase in notices of construction this year.
Almost 2,100 homes were commenced – an increase of 103% on the previous May.
The number of new commencements in Donegal last month was 85, compared to 76 in May 2025, a more modest rise of 12%.
