Donegal ratepayers face potential 20% rise in council budgets from 2027

Donegal ratepayers could face significant increases in the coming years, as the Council prepares long-term budget plans for 2027 onwards.

The Tirconaill Tribune reports that councillors have been told the Executive is planning for a series of budget increases totalling around 20% over four successive budgets from 2027 onwards.

It forms part of the Council’s wider approach to funding services and meeting match-funding requirements for major capital projects.

The revenue estimates process for 2027 will be formally considered later in the year, setting out spending priorities across the county.
