A Donegal Councillor has called for the period around the 12th of July to be declared an major event in Donegal.
Cllr Declan Meehan was speaking on today’s Greg Hughes Show after numerous reports of dangerous driving, public order incidents and other issues in Downings over the weekend.
He believes local gardai simply did not have the resources to respond to everything that was happening over the weekend as a result of the sheer crowds that were in the town and its environs.
Cllr Meehan says when it’s predictable that huge crowds are going to come into an area, a dedicated response is needed…………..
