Warning issued as gig ticket scams rise by 28%

There’s a warning about an increase in the number of scams involving gig tickets.

Bank of Ireland says there’s been a 28% rise in purchase scams reported to it in the first 6 months of this year.

It says fraudsters are increasingly targeting music fans through fake ticket listings on social media, online marketplaces and unofficial resale websites.

The bank is warning people to be on their guard for tickets being offered at unusually low prices, people looking for a quick sale and sellers unwilling to use official ticket transfer sites.
