The Chair of Donegal County Council’s Strategic Policy Committee on Housing says there’s been some scaremongering around the scheme for social homes affected by defective concrete announced this week.
Fianna Fail Cllr Liam Blaney has rejected a suggestion the social home scheme could involve an average extra cost to the council of €50,000 for every house that’s remediated.
Cllr Blaney says that will not be the case, and in situations where an extra cost is incurred, there’ll be discussions between the council and the minister’s office.
On today’s Greg Hughes Show, he said claims that every house remediated under the private scheme incur substantial extra costs do not stand up, and is calling for honesty in discussions about the scheme…..
