It’s emerged the Fire Service has had to be called out to free young children who have become trapped in the grilles protecting the storm drain adjacent to Ringfort Road in Derry.
The Rivers Agency has carried out a significant amount of work to upgrade this culvert in response to flooding in the area, but local Councillor Eric Mc Ginley says fiollowing the work, the drain has become a magnet for children who want to play and explore.
He’s urging parents to ensure that children are discouraged from playing at the culvert……….
