New policing figures show the number of stop and searches carried out by the PSNI in Strabane has fallen by 800 per cent in the past five years.
Last year, police stopped and searched 517 individuals in the Strabane district.
That number is down from the 4,090 who were stopped in 2010.
Twenty arrests were consequently made out of the 517 searches.
In 2010, a European court ruling found that random stops under Section 44 of the Terrorism Act were illegal.
Despite the plummeting figures, local Sinn Fein Councillor Karina Carlin believes 517 is excessive:
