Surgery leaves McMahon in a race for Tyrone’s All Ireland Semi Final

Joe Mc Mahon
Joe McMahon is to undergo surgery on a hernia problem this weekend and has almost certainly been ruled out of the All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry on Sunday week.
He was forced out of the semi-final against Monaghan by the injury after just seven minutes, and was replaced by his brother Justin.
Manager Mickey Harte confirmed that the older McMahon brother is to have keyhole surgery, and will not start against the Kingdom.
“He’s in a race against the clock. He has to have some little bit of surgery to sort out what happened to him,” said Harte.
“It’s supposed to be able to be done by this weekend, but how that leaves him afterwards, we’ll have to wait and see.
“It will be a race against time to make the squad for the next game. I can’t see him being a starter at this time.
Otherwise Tyrone have a clean bill of health, with the exception of Niall McKenna, who has been plagued by injury throughout the season.
“Niall McKenna has been injured all year, and he hasn’t even been able to make the squad at all, from ankle, to hamstring, back to ankle.”
