16 year old Jordan Boyce lost to three time world finalist Tony O’Shea in the BDO Grand slam qualifiers in Hull, England on Tuesday.
The Newtowncunningham teenager gave a good account of himself but suffered defeat 5 sets to 3.
He will now concentrate on competing in the qualifiers for the BDO Lakeside World Youth Championship , today, where he faces Brandon Nicholl of Scotland in the last 128.
Four other Donegal players were also in action at the qualifiers yesterday, Jordan’s father Paddy Boyce, won his first match 5-2 but lost in the last 64 to Robert Nelson of the Isle of Man 5-4.
Ramelton man Clive Aiken also won his first game 5-4 but lost 5-1 against Stephen Lennon from Kildare in the last 128.
Sean Wilson from Buncrana was another man to win his opening game but lost at the next stage 5-2 and the second Ramelton man playing was John Murray who was beaten in his first game 5-1.
