The Ladies GAA team welcomed members of Taiwan Celts Gaelic Football club who are on tour at the moment and are eager to avail of as much GAA practice as possible. Part of the tour involved a stay in Kinsale, followed by a tour of the Ring of Kerry then a bit of match practice in Galway and finally, they paid a visit to Lettrkenny, to see their former team mate Rose Mannering, a student at LyIT, who spent a Summer in Taiwan in a player /coach role with the Celts.
‘It’s amazing to get training with the ladies GAA groups that we have encountered in Ireland, and we appreciate the time taken by Maria Riordan our friend now living in Dublin in assisting us’, said Larisa Seghers.
Among the visitors to Letterkenny are Larisa Seghers an Autralian now residing in Taiwan and a member of the Celts team, also Yishin Lee and Amy Bucek, who hails from Texas. Eamon O’ Boyle the GAA Ladies coach was happy to assist with a training session on the LyIT Training field and the girls were presented with a set of training balls by Paddy Gallagher, Sports Officer, on behalf of the Ladies GAA squad at LyIT.
The balls will be dispatched back to Taiwan to add to the limited training gear that the Taiwan Celts have at their disposal.
