Cahoon found guilty of murdering pregnant ex-girlfriend

A man has been found guilty of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend in Derry in July 2008.
Stephen Cahoon of Harvey Street in Derry admitted killing Jean Quigley at her home, but claimed she provoked him by telling him the baby wasn t his.
Cahoon admitted pushing his ex-girlfriend and putting his hand on her throat earlier in his trial, but said he was provoked and just  snapped after she told him the child wasn t his.
He admitted the lesser charge of manslaughter, but this wasn t accepted by the DPP and, after almost four hours of deliberations, all twelve jurors found him guilty of murder today.
