IBEC North West urges candidates to support key road projects

IBEC North West is calling on all election candidates to support key road projects that will make the region a better place in which to live, work and do business.
The business and employers organisation says a motorway connection to Dublin and improvements to the N14/15 road network would facilitate business growth in the region.
North West Regional Director Terry MacNamara says the lack of a motorway is damaging the competitiveness of the region, while broadening the divide between Dublin and the regions.
He says the proposed review of the Capital Investment Plan due to take place this year should be used as an opportunity to channel windfall corporate tax gains to essential projects such as a motorway connection to Dublin and upgrades to the N14/N15 national primary road between Letterkenny and Lifford.
IBEC wants all candidates to commit to seeking a more ambitious plan for investment, with additional road projects for the North West in particular.
Terry Mc Namara says roads in Donegal are not of sufficient quality to enable the full benefits of the A5 to be realised, and is stressing that progress on Donegal’s road network should not be contingent upon the advancement of the A5.
