Donegal man “doesn’t care if he kills someone”

A disqualified driver allegedly told police he does not care if he is a danger behind the wheel of a car, a court has heard.
Derry Magistrates Court was told William Keenan also said he does not care if he kills someone as a result of his driving.
Keenan, of Blue Cedars, Ballybofey, Co.Donegal, is charged with a number of motoring offences allegedly committed on April 21.
These include dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving whilst disqualified.
The 22-year-old is further charged with theft, driving whilst disqualified and having no insurance on April 23.
Derry Magistrates Court heard allegations that Keenan handed himself into police after electrical items worth over £1,100 were stolen from a Bed and Breakfast.
While in the police station he allegedly told the officers he had been driving over Foyle Bridge at 140mph and he was a disqualified driver.
Keenan then said he did not care if he was a danger behind the wheel of a car or if he killed someone.
The 22-year-old is also accused of an incident on the Limavady Road in which he reversed into a Range Rover.
Police had signalled for him to stop for using a mobile phone whilst driving. However, it is alleged he drove through a red light and failed to stop.
Opposing bail, an investigating officer said Keenan has 15 previous convictions for driving whilst disqualified and police fear he will kill someone.
A defence barrister said her client suffered a bereavement last week and ‘this caused him to behave in a way which was clearly and completely unacceptable’.
District Judge Barney McElholm refused bail stating he has a duty to protect the public from harm. Keenan was remanded in custody until May 12.
