Letterkenny AC runner Ciaran Doherty won the men’s section of the North West 10k and Dublin woman Maria McCambridge won the women’s category.
Ciaran (pictured above, by Brian McDaid) by took a very early lead on Sunday and was not challenged as he crossed the finish line in first place in a time of 32:01.
Maria finished in a time of 34:40.
The remaining athletes’ times are being finalised by the organisers.
Highland Radio’s Patsy McGonagle was in the lead car for the race as he followed every step of the runners and walkers.
He said Ciaran made a clear decision to go out on his own and to go to the front of the field with a race attitude towards the 10k.
Patsy told presenter Myles Gallagher that Ciaran was out in the distance from the chasing pack around 2.15pm
Ciaran was in good shape going into the race after winning the Brendan Boyce Olympic Fund 5k Race in Milford two weeks ago.
Patsy told presenter Myles Gallagher that Ciaran ran a really strong race and revealed the race raised 720,000 Euro for Spina Bifida Donegal and the Irish Pilgrimage Trust…
