Paul Durcan will not be available for Donegal in this years championship.
The All Star goalkeeper has decided to stay in Qatar for the summer and cannot make the commitment to county football.
County Chairman Sean Dunnion confirmed to Highland Radio on Wednesday night’s GAA programme that Durcan had spoken to manager Rory Gallagher and had made the decision to remain in the Middle East.
Durcan had been commuting back to Ireland for St Enda’s club championship games which seen them win Dublin, Leinster and All Ireland titles but that is not feasible for inter county duty.
Gallagher had left the door open for Durcan to return but the former Four Masters club man will stay in Qatar leaving Mark Anthony McGinley, Peter Boyle and Michael Boyle to fight for the no.1 spot for the Ulster Championship.
