Ireland manager Martin O’Neill has kept faith with the squad that he used for Euro2016 as he prepares his side for the start of their World Cup qualifying campaign.
O’Neill has named an extended 28-man squad for the upcoming matches against Oman and Serbia.
Defender Shane Duffy is suspended for the game against Serbia, while the trio of Seamus Coleman, John O’Shea and Jeff Hendrick will each be assessed by the FAI medical staff once they report into camp on Sunday, August 28.
Coleman is currently hampered by an ankle injury.
Team captain Robbie Keane has been selected amid speculation that the 36-year-old will retire from international football after the visit of Oman to the Aviva Stadium at the end of this month.
However, there’s no place for youngsters such as Jack Byrne or Joe Mason as O’Neill has retained the bulk of his European Championship squad.
The additions from the panel used in France are – David Forde, Paul McShane, Alex Pearce, Marc Wilson, Harry Arter, Eunan O’Kane and Callum O’Dowda.
