The North West has managed to escape relatively unscathed, although no doubt, local sports clubs will be checking on their property this morning to make sure there’s no major damage caused to their stands, dressing rooms or dug-out areas.
The damage caused to one of the stands at Turner’s Cross in Cork drew plenty of coverage last night.
Part of the roof of the Derrynane Stand was completely ripped off and it means there will be a ground inspection this morning ahead of tonight’s SSE Airtricity Premier Division match between Cork City and Derry City.
Cork officials are confident that Turner’s Cross will be given the all-clear and tonight’s game, which is live on RTE at 7.20, will go ahead
Cork City just need a point to secure a first Premier Division title since 2005 – and they meet a Derry side whose preparations for tonight’s game have been far from ideal – they’ve been in Cork since Sunday ahead of a match that was initially due to be played last night.
Not surprisingly, City boss, Kenny Shiels, is far from happy at the situation.
