Irish busker Allie Sherlock appeared on The Ellen Show in the US on Monday and the talented performer said the experience was “amazing”.
The 12-year-old musician from Cork was invited to Los Angeles to meet Ryan Tedder from the pop-rock band One Republic after he saw one of her videos on Instagram.
The American singer-songwriter and producer, who has worked with industry heavyweights such as Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, U2 and Adele, flew Allie and her dad to LA to record and write songs.
While they were in LA, Allie made an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ hugely popular talk show where she performed Adele’s hit A Million Years Ago and had a chat with DeGeneres.
Allie appeared on The Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 on Tuesday where she spoke to Ray about her experience.
She said: “That was pretty amazing because I absolutely love her show and she was just so nice and friendly and I was really nervous and during the break she was saying me to calm down and she was just so nice about it which made everything much easier.”
During the show, Ellen gave Allie a special present that will help with her busking. “She gave me a guitar case with lights with light up words saying TIPS”, Allie said.
Allie also met acclaimed rapper and producer Pharrell Williams on the set of the show, which she said was “pretty cool”.
“We had heard that he was there that day so we went out and looked for him and saw him there and got a picture.
“It was pretty cool because I also love him too”, she told Ray.
Of her career dreams, she said: “I’m not quite sure yet because I’m so young. But I would like to be a singer. I absolutely love singing, it’s just something that I have always loved.”
Her father Mark also appeared on the show, saying he is “very proud” of his daughter. Allie will be appearing on The Ray D’Arcy Show on Saturday night on RTÉ One at 9:10pm.
This isn’t the first time a young Irish performer has appeared on The Ellen Show in recent months, as 17-year-old Galway singer Eimear O’Tuathail sang her song Hey Ellen last October after making a personal appeal to the queen of daytime TV.
The Galway girl’s dream came true as she was flown to LA to perform a song she wrote in honour of Ellen DeGeneres in front of millions on US television.
Irish singers, Glenn Murphy and Ronan Scolard, also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform their viral Adele mash-up.
