A government minister has pledged to act on the Maternity Theatre at Letterkenny Unviersity Hospital that has yet to be commissioned, following its construction in 2000.
During exchanges with Junior Minister Jim Daly in the Dail last evening, Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty renewed his call for the facility to be opened.
Currently, of the five in-patient operating theatres in the hospital, only three are in routine use, as one must remain vacant in case of an emergency Cesarean Section is necessary.
Minister Daly did give a commitment to Deputy Doherty that his Department would work with HSE officials to open the maternity theatre in the near future……….
