Government urged to approve funding for farmers impacted by snow

Fintown to Ballybofey

Fianna Fail’s Agriculture Spokesperson is calling on the Government to approve funding for farmers impacted by snow and flooding.
Deputy Charlie McConalogue says farmers across a number of sectors have been badly hit by Storm Emma and the exceptional snowfall over the past week.
He is urging Minister Michael Creed to ensure that funding is made available to help these farmers to return to a state of normality.
Donegal Deputy Charlie McConalogue is calling on Minister Creed to act now to protect farmers following the recent period of cold weather.
Deputy McConalogue says what is needed is a permanent scheme for farmers affected by adverse weather events, particularly when they are increasing in frequency.
The conditions experienced over the past week he says were extremely severe, and it will take farmers weeks, if not months, to recover from the losses suffered.
Minister Creed has been urged to step up to the mark and provide farmers with the neccessary assistance.
