Donegal County Council has been urged to seek an extension of the Clar programme based on new Census figures.
Under the programme, funding is available to help counter the effects of rural depopulation.
At a recent meeting of the Inishowen Municipal District, Cllr Albert Doherty said recent population trends require a re-evaluation of the eligible areas.
