The option of Donegal Mayor Cllr Brendan Byrne facing a vote of no confidence is still much a probability following a meeting of disgruntled councillors yesterday.
It follows the controversial adoption of the council’s budget last month.
Anger flared when Mayor Brendan Byrne and his Fianna Fail colleagues adopted the budget while the rest of the council member were meeting to discuss ways to reduce commercial rates.
Yesterday 16 of the 19 councillors involved met to discuss their next option.
Fine Gael Councillor Terence Slowey says that while the decision to adopt the budget cannot be undone a vote of no confidence in the Mayor is still very much an option
