Number of homes available to rent at lowest level in 13 years

 

The latest quarterly rental report from DAft.ie has shown only 2,700 homes were available to rent on 1st May across the entire country.
The tight supply has seen the cost of listed rents rise yet again in all 54 of the markets covered by the report.
The average listed rent in Ulster is now €645, 33% higher than its lowest point.
There were just 2,700 homes available to rent nationwide on May 1st, the lowest total ever recorded in a series dating back to 2006, according to the latest quarterly Rental Report by Daft.ie.
In the three Ulster counties of the Republic of Ireland, rents rose by an average of 9.8% in the year to March 2019 and are now 13% above their previous high in early 2008.
In Donegal, rents were on average 8.5% higher in the first quarter of 2019 than a year previously. The average listed rent is now €645, up 33% from its lowest point.
