Number of assaults on Gardai increased last year

 

The number of assaults on gardai increased by 22 per cent last year.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee says there were 763 in 2018, and 929 last year.
They range from minor assaults to serious attacks.
Figures for 2020 show the increase has continued this year – with 837 assaults by mid-October.
