Cahir Gormley of the Illies Golden Gloves club won the welterweight final at the Ulster Boxing Championships last night, beating Brian Morgan of Belfast on a unanimous 5-0 decision.
He also won the John Creaney Belt for the Best Boxer of the championships.
There was disappointment for Twin Towns Jack Rolland who lost his final on a split decision.
Meanwhile, welterweight Matthew McCole got a bronze in the FISU University World Cup Combat Sports in Turkey but he was unable to take his place in the semi-finals, having had to withdraw following a clash of heads in his quarter-final win.
