Department advises caution in areas affected by wildfires on Greek island

The Department of Foreign Affairs is advising Irish citizens in Rhodes to be alert and stay away from areas affected by wildfires.

A spokesperson says the Department has been contacted by a number of Irish citizens impacted by the blazes.

30,000 people have been moved to safety on the Greek island and tourists are being evacuated.

The DFA also advises people to have roaming turned on so that they can receive alerts from local authorities on their phones.
